You don't seem like you're from around here, kupo. What's your name, kupo?
What a strange creature that appeared before her. Having tilted her head, the woman ran her finger along the blade of her polearm, wondering how much of a fight the thing could put up. She decided against it though, and instead humored its question.
"My name, is Lissandra-"
Is that what everyone calls you, kupo?
"...the Dervish of Despair. Cut me off again and I'll cut off your tongue." She spat, her voice filled with disdain. Already she was beginning to regret acknowledging the creature.
That's a good boy name, kupo. You are a boy, are you not, kupo?
"No, I am a woman. Are you implying something?"
Apparently, you cannot tell when I am joking, kupo. You must be an old man with no sense of humor, kupo. How old are you, anyway, kupo?
There are some things you should just not ask a woman. However, Lissandra didn't care much for what others thought of her, so it wasn't an issue. "I am twenty three years of age, but I still care little for your childish antics."
You are he funniest moogle I have ever seen, kupo. What sort of creature are you?
"A Moogle? I'm fairly sure I'm not a Moogle, have you never seen a Human before?"
Well of course I can't see you very well, with you standing in the shadows like that. How could I tell what you look like?
"I can see you just fine. But very well, I will step a bit closer to you. You just stay where you are though, fuzzball."
(Face-claim is cosplay of Fiora from League of Legends, minus the sword and giant collar. Not sure who the cosplayer is tho)
Hmm... and where do you hail from?
"I come from a world inflicted with constant turmoil, caused by the greed of Kings of countries. We call our land the Gilden Earth, for the resources are plenty. There are many mines and forests stripped bare, and the common man's house is a small shanty near one of the mines. Magic is rare and used by scholars almost exclusively, so most of our fighting is done with metal. It was beautiful and peaceful once, but its not a paradise anymore."
I see... That weapon you have there. What is it?
"Ahh, this?" Lissandra purred, testing the edge of the blade with her finger. "This is a rare item indeed. A Naginata with two ends to it. I suppose I'll have to explain to you what a Naginata is though. A normal one is similar to a spear, except that the tip of it is a curved single edged blade, as opposed to a double edged straight point. Does that explain it?"
(The picture is there just to get an idea of how the blades look in relation to eachother. There are no handles, the blades are much smaller and the shaft part of it is much longer in comparison.)
(this is a more realistic version, but it only has one blade.)
A nice weapon... but it's only so good as it's owner. Do you know any techniques?
The naginata is essentially a curved blade with extra reach, around up to 4 feet depending on from where its held. All of her moves involving it generally gain an extra arm's length of distance if she chooses to use the full length.
Second blade: With the second end of the naginata, Lissandra often gets a second means of attack. However, in closer range she may use the stilettos on her boots instead.
4 Physical damage, 2 CD
Assault and Battery: Lissandra extends her staff over her head and brings it down on the enemy. With the created momentum she loops it over over again from her other side for a second strike, pulling it behind her and forward again for one final stab with the back end.
5 Physical damage, 4 CD
Crescent Strike: Lissandra extends her arm towards her enemy, spinning the naginata vertically into the air for a few full rotations of slashes before catching it again.
6 Physical damage, 4 CD
(She's specialized in using polearms and specifically using both ends of her unique weapon, and I wanted 6 damage because its basically getting four half powered slashes in)
Mon Guarde: Lissandra tosses her staff up high into the air, distracting her enemy. In the mean time, she pulls out two sets of daggers from concealed places and flicks them all at her opponent at once. Immediately afterwards, she jumps into the air, grabbing her naginata and slamming the head of it down onto her target.
7 Phyisical damage, 5 CD
Winds of Destruction: Her most devastating move, Lissandra begins by rapidly swing her polearm around her body. When she gains enough momentum, Lissandra flicks it into the air and performs a handstand, catching the spinning blades on her feet. She then brings herself low to the ground and spins her own body, extending her lance to the end of her legs and fully around herself with a series of slashes, brief one-handed standing positions and full extensions. At the end of it, she grabs her naginata with her hands and jumps off the ground for one final slash. Needless to say, she becomes a bit dizzy afterwards.
(This attack is intended for use against multiple enemies, if it wasn't already obvious.)
10 Physical damage, 6CD
Hmm... Being here you must surely have a past. Can you tell me about it?
Lissandra looked at the moogle with curiosity. "I do not know why you insist on learning so much about me, but I suppose I must to continue forwards, no? Then very well, I will share with you the story of how I came to be."
"Even I don't know what I was like when I was a kid. My parents not must have given me a very great upbringing though, considering what I am now. But at any rate, I don't remember much before the war. The furthest I can remember is my family being held hostage while I was forced to go around the house, looking for valuables to appease our captors with. However, we were poor, and every five minutes I couldn't find something to sate them with they slit the throat of each of my family members, from my younger siblings to my parents. They laughed while they did it, and I can remember that laughter to this day. In the end, they didn't get enough from us and with me being the only thing left in the house, I was sold into slavery."
At this point, she was no longer looking at the moogle but past him, envisioning her past in a somber trance. "Unspeakable things were done to me there, along with the other slaves. Every day I spent living as a slave was a day I spent living in hell. For three years, I was living in torment. Until one day, that is. With no fear left inside me to stop me and nothing to lose, and the fatal mistake of leaving me alone to clean up a room with an ornamental weapon in it, I surprised the man that owned me with a blade to the gut while he was sleeping with one of the others. He didn't think I had the guts to do it. He thought I was just a scared, harmless little girl that he could whip into submission and bend to his will. Well, he was wrong. The other girl was instantly terrified of me, as well as angry that I took away her master as well as her source of food and shelter. I told her we could escape, and she refused because slaves like us had no future in our country. In fact, she said she was going to run to an official's house and report what I did here. Well, I couldn't have that happening, so I took the sword and slaughtered her too. And I enjoyed it."
"I ran away from that house by myself, but the girl was right. My recapture was inevitable. After all, I had hardly been outside enough to even understand where anything was. The story of what I did was spread, and within a few days the government dogs found me starving and alone, and dragged me to prison kicking and screaming. I had thought I was going to be resold into slavery, but they had something much worse planned for me. Although in a sense better, since I had already become a murderer. No, they knew that I could kill and that I was still young. So instead they decided to force me into being a soldier in the army. In exchange, they offered me food, water, and not to kill me. How could I refuse? And to sweeten the deal, I found out that the captain that would be in charge of training me was the same pig that that murdered my family. Of course, I couldn't tell it was him at first and he couldn't recognize me either. But when he laughed at the troops whenever they failed a task during training, I knew it was the same laughter that took away my childhood."
"Being the only female soldier, I was quite the object of attention among the troops. However, the Captain protected me from the advances of other soldiers until I was instead ridiculed by them. Now why is that? I guess that it's because to him, I was HIS object, and that I belonged to only him. I was this rare specimen that he thought he was refining into a bloodthirsty killing machine. And I do appreciate the combat experience and discipline I received during that time, but again, I had already liked killing. And it wasn't only that, but he too eventually tried to press himself onto me. It sickened me, but I played along for a while. At least, that was, until he got too close. Up to this point he thought I was his loyal pet killing machine to show off. When I told him why I wouldn't allow him any closer to me, he realized that he had helped train his victim in order to get revenge for what he took away from her. And that is exactly what I did."
"Afterwards I tore my way out of the camp, killing whatever came in my way without hesitation. I ran until I reached the face of a cliff, and with nowhere to go but down as the archers became ready to shoot, I jumped down into the river below. A rough downstream trip later I was in a seafaring town. Aside from being soaking wet, people recognized me as a soldier now (at least for a little while) and I knew more about the world. So this time I stowed away on a ship and escaped the country for real. I traveled the world doing what I loved; killing. Of course, I found a way to do it legally first. I proved myself to a mercenary group for a while before becoming a solo contractor. I never had a cause of my own to fight for, but at least now people were respecting me instead of treating me like a tool. I made sure people knew that they were paying me to give them a service, and that I chose what jobs I felt like taking."
And now Lissandra had regained the typical, cruel and uncaring face that she usually wore with a smirk "Were you expecting a story with a happy ending? she said. "I'm a killer, and I will continue to do so until I die. However, with Tamesis recruiting? I can finally have a cause to fight for, and a chance to really let loose. With this final war, I can assure that no more children will grow up to become what I am now. With just a handful of people left, I can die knowing that nobody else will have to suffer this fate."
Then answer this... what kind of person are you really?
"I suppose after that story, thats a good question to ask" Lissandra chuckled, looking off into the distance with a look of longing. "I enjoy killing, yet I don't want anyone else to. Perhaps I'm selfish? I've never actually thought about it, because I don't really know. Good and Evil are both relative and decided by who's in charge, anyways. However, there's blood on my hands that even the mightiest rivers wouldn't be able to wash."
"I've committed so many crimes of war that nobody would think to call me "good". I'm okay with that though. This is the path I've chosen, and there's no changing that. But when I think about what the world will be like when I'm gone, I would like for it to not be so tragic. But just my dreams of the future being optimistic doesn't excuse what I've done. I am cruel. I won't mindlessly oppress the weak, but I have no problem stepping on the corpses of those who cross my path. I love to fight, and the stronger an opponent is the more fun I have striking them down. I despise those who abuse others for their own benefit, but at the same time, am I not the same way towards my targets? I am not a soft-hearted beauty cursed underneath the body of a beast, because that person no longer exists. "
So then, what side do you affiliate with?[/span]
"The only place I belong now is Darkness."
Every strength is wielded for a reason. What are your dreams and aspirations?
"My dreams? Like I said, I want a world where people like me don't exist. I suppose therein I wish I could change, but I know that won't happen. In the new world, I'll use my strength to make sure that children are brought up right. And I'll find someone to keep my bloodlust restrained until I'm not needed anymore. It won't be easy, and I'll probably hate it, but I'll resist."
Though it seems trivial, perhaps you should tell me what you like?
"The things I like? You mean like flowers and walks on the beach? Well, what I enjoy most is a worthy opponent. But I suppose there are... minor things I find pleasant. I like the feeling of cold night air on my skin, and the light from a full moon. There are foods and treats I like as well, after all, I am human. Dumplings and pastries are among my favorites."
Assuming you're telling the truth, then you surely must have dislikes. Do you care to reveal those?
"Yes. Treat me like an object and I will kill you, no questions asked. And I hate people that thrive off the misfortune of others. I've worked with them and against them, but no matter the situation it's left a foul taste in my mouth. I don't like optimistic people because more often than not they choose to blind themselves to the cruelty that surrounds them, and the ignorance disgusts me. As for material dislikes, I don't like anything too bright or gaudy."
Interesting. Do you acknowledge your weaknesses?
"...yes. As cruel and unforgiving as I make myself up to be, I cannot bring myself up to killing the weak and defenseless. Maybe it's because it reminds me of my past, but I can't kill a child, at least not anymore. I don't want to steal their future from them."
Weaknesses are strong when they are acknowledged. I'm sure you have strengths as well...
"Hahaha, of course I have strengths. I have pride in how strong I've become over the years, and being able to strike an opponent down without hesitation has a surprising amount of advantages. And if someone were to question my morality, I've already embraced my sins, so I wouldn't be taken aback. Its very relieving to have a lot of confidence in yourself, because you don't have to care about what others think of you."
I never would have guessed, kupo! So, tell me, kupo.. What's the secret password, kupo?
