Unleashing the Furies (Closed) [Test]

[Sora]

Unlike the deep void of the World That Never Was, it truly was night in this magical land. Sora had been gone for a full "day" after all. So the hum and the green light of the beam of his gummi ship was all the more noticeable in the still, empty world. The moment he materialized on the floor, the teen scanned his surroundings.

He had never actually been on the land mass before. Each time he came it was on Hook's ship. The gummi ship had come as close to the familiar signal as it could, and had landed him in a bay. He was standing on a rocky outcropping, surrounded by water on all sides. He could probably jump from rock to rock to get back to land easy enough, if he had the time or patience. The gulls were quiet, but he could hear the familiar sound swaying water, and the smell salt water and fish. Glancing once over his shoulder, Sora heard the creak of he ship holding steady against the waves. But it was also quiet, the ship's crew probably sleeping either in the cabin, or somewhere on land.

Turning back to land, Sora furrowed his brow and concentrated for a moment. The image of Roxas came to his mind. And then Lea. Then eventually Riku and Kairi and Donald and Goofy and... When he thought of all his friends, his heart soared, and a small smile curled his lips. Craning his neck to look up at the stars, he figured now as as good a time as any. So he jumped once, twice, spinning high into the air....and fell back down. The keybearer of light wrinkled his nose and scuffed the dirt like a petulant child.

"Man... oh well. Least I can still kinda fly."

He jumped again, this time gliding right over the waters onto land. Alright, time to fly. Pun intended.

Sora circled around the Island as fast as he could go. Sometimes running, other times leaping, other times gliding, peering into the shadows as he attempted to find anything unusual or out of the ordinary. Any glowing eyes, fast shapes, or flickering movement. Nothing. Even with Sora's excellent peripheral vision, there was nothing. He finally stopped, in what appeared to be a large gathering of tall, pointy tents. Scrutinizing his surroundings, he scratched at his cheek.

"Anyone here yet?"

[Entity NPC]

In the Dark of the Night... ... You'll be Mine. The island stayed quiet just after sun down. After all, stalking prey was easiest when you had the element of surprise; and only the most skilled of hunters could make themselves known after dark, when shadows blended to illusion and cold, unforgiving wind bit into any exposed skin. Blood red eyes watched from the shadows for signs of prey. Unforgiving, lightless eyes that watched from trees and caves and any nook and cranny they could find. A boy wandered the island; his scent wafting on the air. Was he prey? ... ... ... No... this was not prey... it didn't smell right. Then where was it? Where was the prey? They had watched day and night but it had not appeared. Patience, sisters. Yes, patience. Prey would appear. It would get hungry. It would get tired. It would be weak. Wait for it. Wait for the prey. Suddenly a rustle was heard in the bushes as a young native girl headed out into the forest away from her village. Is this the prey, sisters? ...Yes! Yes, it is the prey! Let us hunt the prey! Let us... FEAST! The girl paused for a moment, seeing on the path before her a strange feather the likes she'd never seen on the island before. Taking it in her hand to examine it, Tiger Lily never saw as the creatures launched themselves from the tree branches, claws extended... Ready to sink fangs into soft, girlish flesh.

[Sora]

There was a shift in the bushes, and Sora instantly went on the alert. Summoning Kingdom Key with a familiar zing, he turned and ran straight into the forest, where he had heard the telltale rustle. The keybearer reasoned it must have been a Fury sneaking around, so charged full steam ahead. Yet when he actualy broke through the trees and into the forest path, the sight was definitely not one he expected.

"WATCH OUT!"

Sora rocketed down the path, and leaped into the air, pointing his keyblade skyward to summon Thundaga to aid him. A barrage of lightning rained down upon the flock, and Sora landed in a storm of thunder and feathers. Skidding to a halt in front of the girl, Sora brought up his keyblade in a defensive guard in case a beast dove through the crowd to try to attack.

"You alright? Stay behind me!"

In the Dark of the Night... ... You'll be Mine. The Thundaga was large and unexpected; the area lit up as the lighting flashed and revealed the four sinister winged women, all of them colorful and alluring, but with fangs and claws exposed at the shock. The one closest to the girl faltered mid flight from the surprise and knocked the girl to the ground as the other three ran into her. The girl crawled away, feather forgotten as she tried to hide in the bushes and gather the breath that had been knocked from her and suppress the fear at seeing the size of the hunter Furies in the flash of light. The three who had crashed were back on their feet quickly and took to the air, swirling in a circle around the clearing, eyes glowing and being the only indication of their position aside from the gentle flapping of their wings. As the smallest staggered to her feet, she growled angrily at the boy and began rushing at him on her powerful legs, beating her wings, causing feathers to fill the air. She hissed and lunged and grabbed at him with her claws, trying to grab hold of any part of him she could before slamming him back against a tree trunk. "Do Not Interfere... The Prey is Ours." As the little one rushed the boy, the three began to descent for a second swipe at the girl, who they could see in the dark as she was not perfectly hidden in the darkness. Tiger Lily gazed up with wide eyes and couldn't find her voice to scream as one scraped it's claws at her, raking her arm. The little one continued it's onslaught at Sora, wings out spread and trying to take off into the sky to dive at him again. Strangely, the three that were hunting the girl began to shrill a coarse and haunting song that seemed to be their idea of a dirge for the girl they were hunting. "Precious little princess child Eyes so tender, heart so wild You were chosen Now lay frozen Accept the embrace of the night Time to set the ending right." The girl was finally able to find her voice, but she did not scream, instead she called out. "Peter! Help! Only one of them rushed at him the first time, activating his Counterguard. The light and cling of claw on metal lit up the clearing for just a moment and was drowned in the chaos of battle. In the recoil, he fired a small burst of light and magic from the keyblade at the smallest fury attacking him. The second dive struck, and Sora grunted at impact, shouting out as he was grabbed and slammed into the trunk of a tree, the shrill, screeching dirge ringing in his ears.

"Peter! Help! Please!"

The cry for help snapped through his haze. Squaring his stance again, he chucked his keyblade into a deadly propeller to strike at the Fury that had her sights set on him. The moment his weapon returned to him, he charged toward the girl, leaping for the unruly flock and slashing one of the other Furies attacking her.

In the Dark of the Night... ... You'll be Mine. The counter attack caused feathers to fly through the air, but it didn't disguise Sora's intention to once more come between the furies and their prey. The young one shook her head, fluffed up in outrage and began swooping into Sora's way. Luckily the pack was well tuned to each other, because as the younger one was keeping in Sora's way, even though she was taking damage, it allowed them to get to the target of their hunger. One of the larger Furies wrapped her long talons around Tiger Lily and hoisted her into the air, barely avoiding the long distance Strike at them. Lifting up into the dark night sky, they didn't leave the area, as expected. They stayed to watch after the small one, Tiger Lily dangling precariously from one's sinister claws. The two others continued circling and watching the fight, ready to swoop in at any time to aid their kin, but knowing she needed to fight to earn her right to hunt. Though Sora had been intending to attack one of the trio of Furies surrounding the girl, his slash ended up going toward the smallest one as she swooped in front of him. Well, not like that was a bad thing. Until one of the three hoisted the young girl into the air. "No!" Sora grit his teeth, already running to catch up. "Hold on, I'm coming!" He called to the girl.

Eyes on the girl and Furies, Sora prepared to jump, reaching his keyblade back to ready his attack, before a flash of light in the corner of his vision caught his attention. He turned, just in time to see the beam strike him down.

He cried out, knocked back from the energy. It threw him back a meter before he regained his bearings, only to get knocked back again, too close to the energy to recover. The attack finally died down, and Sora turned his attention to the smallest one, matching her glare and darkening his usually bright eyes. A quick glance showed him the Furies, and more importantly the girl, hadn't flown away yet, too intent on the battle.

"Alright, we'll play it your way. Fine by me." He stomped into his ready stance, just before he charged.

A single jump to get him off the ground, he reached his keyblade back, and shouted as he twisted into a spin, quickly drawing himself within attacking range to strike at the smallest fury. He followed up with a simple three hit combo, slashing and hacking at the Fury.

In the Dark of the Night... ... You'll be Mine. The littlest Fury howled angrily as the blade slashed at her and knocked her down to the ground. For a moment she was an unceremonious scramble of feathers and growls as she tried to right herself... but Sora's attention was suddenly called elsewhere. Tiger Lily let out a surprised scream as the fury holding her flung her up into the air and one of it's team mates darted through the air, slashing it's claws across her face, causing a trickle of blood down her cheek before the first Fury caught her again int it's grip, squeezing it's talons tightly around her arms. Good, he got it to the ground. The keybearer spun on his heel and raised the blade over his head to knock the screeching feathered woman out, but a terrified scream made him stop. The way the furies toyed with her enraged Sora. These beasts were unforgivable, to terrify and harm an innocent girl like that was awful. He launched into the air without a second thought, his power easily taking him to the low altitudes of the other Furies.

He was aiming for the one that had attacked the girl first, though Sora had not been able to see she only grazed the small girl's cheek. Coming to a stop right in front of the Fury, he only had a second to glare at her before he threw his arms out and summoned the double rings of fire around his body. The moment the spell ended, he dove straight into a slashing frenzy. A vertical slash, a horizontal, then a deadly front flip, each strike so strong and fast they left a trail of light in their wake.

As he was falling to the floor, he saw attack coming at him from the smallest Fury he had forgotten about. Tapping into his clothes magic, jumped in mid-air right over the dive, avoiding the attack on instinct. But the moment he did, he remembered there were at least two other Furies probably after his head now, and he was still a falling duck, so to speak. Well, fiddlesticks.

In the Dark of the Night... ... You'll be Mine. The furies didn't have time to move out of the way before the brilliant fira blasted through the air and at first Tiger Lily took a frightful drop, but ended up in one of the other Furies' clutches only halfway down. Ever the pack of huntresses, they quickly righted themselves, the singed Fury taking her weary self to the tree they had previously perched in to clear her head, even as embers still covered her. Her eyes were not used to the sudden light and she would not be able to focus again for a moment in the darkness. The little one was up and after Sora again, only she seemed to be really dragging at this point. She barely made it into the air when the interloper began swinging that crazy blade around maniacally. Her attack was amazingly dodged and as the boy flew through the air, the two other Furies sent a silent nod to each other. The one holding Tiger Lily screamed loudly and tossed the girl over Sora so that when he landed the girl would land on top of him. "...It wields strange magic..." "...Smells of a mortal..." "...Not a regular mortal... Report to Mother..." "...Other Worlds to eat..." "...Other Prey to Hunt..." "...No need to rush for this one..." The Furies then clustered together in the tree and liquefied into the shadows, no longer in their bird-woman forms as they rushed away to report their failure to their creator. Sora's hand began to glow, the symbol he'd received telling him that it was safe now. Tiger Lily sat up and looked around in confusion. "...Those birds... they are not from here... I have helped to track and hunt many kinds of game in these woods and this feather..." She held up the strange but beautiful plume she'd picked up at the beginning of the fight, "...This is strange to me..." She looked up at Sora and then began to stand, wiping her bloodied cheek. Sora knew he was going to regret this, he had four crazy beasts that were very powerful and still going strong, even if he did manage to put one out of commission. So he was very surprised when he managed to land without a problem. He noticed the nods and silent agreements, just before the blood curdling scream, and the girl came flying for him.

"Whoa!" He reached out to try to catch her, only to end up cushioning her fall. Falling backwards with a grunt, the teen had the wind effectively knocked out him, just barely hearing the female voices, and noticing the Furies making their retreat. Good, they were gone. Meant this world was safe.

But... who was "mother"?

The girl sat up to climb off of him, and Sora grunted again, this time pushing himself up to sit as well. He rubbed the back of his head as she spoke, where he had hit it rather harshly in his fall. He watched her get up and moved to follow her, dusting the back of his pants off with his free hand.

"Those were "Furies". And as far as I know, they want to try to eat other- uh-" He paused, realizing he had nearly said "worlds" without realizing, and thinking fast,. "People. I'm not sure why they've suddenly appeared though." He amended with a quick smile.

The scratch on her cheek started bleeding again, and Sora lifted his keyblade skyward, summoning a ring of flowers around the girl to heal any injuries and fatigue she had. He was used to battle, and he had to make sure she was better first. It was as he lowered his hand from the spell that his hand came into view. And in consequence, the glowing mark. He looked to the plumage in her fingers, growing serious. "I'm glad you're okay. You should probably keep an eye out for them from now on. They might be gone for now, but I dunno if they'll be back. Oh, I'm Sora, by the way."

[Entity NPC]

Tiger Lily listened intently as she looked towards the village with a concerned expression in her eyes. "... It's strange that no one came during the fight... biyanga, my father, usually has warriors stationed to keep a look out for the Lost Boys... It is very unsettling that no one has come looking for me... Will those things that eat people be back?" She looked up at Sora with her wide brown eyes, her question burning in them without words. 'Will my village be attacked?'

She was a little amazed at the healing powers Sora had. "You are garadyigan (doctor)... Those powers are rare in my village." The Indian Princess shook Sora's hand firmly if stiffly and responded. "I am Tiger Lily, only daughter of the Chief of my people. Thank you for saving me. I am sure biyanga will be happy."

The Indian princess then turned and began guiding Sora back to her village, but when they got there, She made a terrible discovery. Every person in the village, guards and all, had fallen into a strange deep slumber. Even a couple of wawura (rascal) Lost Boys could be seen laying about the campfires as if they had been sneaking up into the Village, but had fallen asleep mid sneak.

Tiger Lily rushed to her tent and Sora would notice as she did a strange purple mist would rise out of the teepee and she would be fast asleep.

As the princess fell asleep, the teenage boy would find himself alone in the village and the campfires would begin flickering out one by one until the entire camp was covered in darkness and the only light was the stars and moon in the eerie night sky.

"I apologize for startling you... however, if we're to discuss what happened, it would be best no one should eaves drop."

Sora would turn around to see the young man that he had left upon the platform at The World That Never Was, starlight giving him an ethereal glow as he stared with vacant, deep eyes.

"I suppose to be fair I should answer any questions you have, first." He crossed his arms and watched Sora. "I'm sure you have many at this point." He looked about at the sleeping mortals all around him. "... Do not worry. They are under a sleeping spell cast by me. They will not wake until the Day shines full upon the camp."

[Sora]

Sora had no idea what "garadyigan" was supposed to be, but the girl made it sound like a good thing, so the teen figured it would not be bad to agree to it. Or at least not deny it. She had taken his hand without prompting, and he automatically stood at attention, following her sudden handshake a bit awkwardly, though she seemed to not really pay him much heed. So she was the daughter of a Chief? Chiefs were important, right? Apparently it would be good to be in "biyanga"'s good graces. "Uh, yeah, sure, no problem." He offered with a smile, not really following the whole conversation, but getting the gist of it easily enough.

Once Tiger Lily turned, Sora followed her back through the woods, and discreetly let his keyblade vanish. Well, as discreetly as a brief light and shing could be. But the Indian Princess paid it no mind, too stunned at the sight of her village. And when Sora came shoulder-to-shoulder with her, he could see why. The youth blinked, mouth parted as he looked to the sleeping forms in confusion. For a split second, he assumed the worst, right up until he heard a sound that was definitely a snore. When the young girl went running for her tent, Sora was only a few moments behind her. "Wait, Tiger Lily!" He loped after her, unable to stop her from entering her tent. When the mist appeared, he halted, taking an unsure step back automatically as he took note of the dark mist. What was that?

There was a whoosh, and a chill went down his spine. Spinning about for the source of the noise, Sora watched as one by one the campfires snuffed out, like someone pinching a candle. The shadows deepened, the blackness crawling further from their corners until the last flame fell, and the world was silent, covered with darkness. Someone else was here. It could not have been the furies though, this didn't feel like that. But who...

"I apologize for startling you..."

Sora whirled to see who had spoken. And only after hearing the voice and letting his eyes adjust did Sora finally recognize who it was. "Munashii!"

Oddly, Sora didn't feel "relieved" exactly. More like "placated". It was hard to see his face in the night light, though he seemed calm and collected, unlike Sora who was still clearly on edge. He cast uncertain glances to the people who were slumped over, knowing it had to be the Entity's doing. He had a fair reason, but...

"... Do not worry. They are under a sleeping spell cast by me. They will not wake until the Day shines full upon the camp."

Alright. Sora could deal with that. He had no reason to really doubt the Entity's word at this point, so he straightened into a more relaxed stance, hands on his hips. Except his stance went from "relaxed" to uneasy in a few small minutes, rocking his head back and forth as he bounced his heel. "So... did I pass? Is that what this symbol means?"

Lifting up his hand to show his most pressing concern, Sora was actually nervous for the answer. Not that long ago, he would have figured beating off the Furies and saving the world was enough to get him points. But from the events of his test, he had learned that sometimes there were other elements involved, and he had to know if he had managed to earn the deal that Munashii had first offered.

Light Cannot Touch Me Neither Can It Help You "So did I pass? Is that what this symbol means?" Munashii watched the boy for a moment through veiled eyes. He seemed so earnest in this. So he didn't know what that mark was then. That would need to be explained first of all... and then perhaps the boy might ask about the furies. If what Mother had said was true, then the boy had already had a brush with a mark of a not very pleasant kind and wanted Munashii to ease his mind that this mark was not of the same type. Drawing himself up tall and straight, Munashii looked down at the boy and nodded very very shortly. "We have had an agreement and you have kept your side. And so it is only fair that I keep mine. However, i have spoken with her... and she is... concerned about meeting you. She has helped other mortals before, not in your kind of situation, but their desires were not pure. I have assured her yours are." Munashii's eyes traveled up to the vast patterns of stars that littered the sky. "...She's watching even right now." It was true. Both his mother and the other woman were watching over them right now. There was a strange hush over everything as Munashii let the words he'd said sink in. "i believe we can convince her to lend me some of her power. The question is how." Pretending to think quietly for a moment Munashii watched Sora's reaction to the news that his task wasn't over yet. "You defeated the furies, didn't you? I'm actually a little surprised. They aren't your typical creatures. They are very special minions of someone I have met before."

[Sora]

Sora liked what first came out of Munashii's mouth. He brought his hand down in a victorious fist pump and excited grin. But his satisfaction was short lived. He tilted his head to the side, one brow cocked as he looked at him in confusion. Wasn't... pure? Did he mean like pure hearts like the Princesses of Hearts? He followed his gaze to the sky, squinting to try to peer through the darkness. He honestly expected to see a face peering down at him from the clouds or something, but he only saw the stars twinkling down at him from beside the moon.

Sora did not like what quickly followed. He dropped his hands and looked at the man in exasperation. "Are you serious?" He groaned dramatically and flopped forward. "Great, more tests. I don't even know how I'm supposed to convince her to help me."

It wasn't like he was being completely selfless. He was fighting these Furies now for a way to free the others. Maybe he could appeal to her sense of mercy? After all, it was them that were suffering, not him. He sighed once, pulling himself up, rocking back and forth on his heels until he grounded himself again. "Yeah, wasn't too bad. I mean, don't get me wrong, they were strong and all, but they're not the worst things I've ever faced. I've taken down things twenty times my own size, and then some." And it was exactly because he said it so casually and nonchalantly that proved how serious he was about the statement. He crossed his arms. "So, you said they were trying to corrupt worlds, right? So, why were they going after Tiger Lily? Why not the whole village?" Waving his hand briefly to the sleeping bodies, he never lost his wary curiosity, though he never became suspicious. "I mean, you must've put 'em to sleep before I even started attacking them,so they were easy targets. You knew they wouldn't go after the others. So what were they after?"
