The sweetness of the night song echoed over the world as darkness made its way through the lengthening shadows and fading light. The Goddess of night made her way through cracks and crevices until every centimeter was covered in her presence; greedily sealing way all traces of day and sun and light. Her voice thrummed in such a key that mortal ears couldn't distinguish the words, but they could feel her all around them as they fell asleep in their homes.
As the sleep over took many of the homes, there were a few places in this world that were only just awakening. Those kinds of places were not considered of high repute, and often the people who frequented them were shunned. Tamesis liked these places for that very reason. She would visit them in her ethereal form and sit in their shadows and watch them try to block out the things that bother them; the darkness, the light... life and death... Many of them seemed to be outcast from their very skins.
It was fascinating.
However, tonight she had plans and couldn't be bothered to sit with the mortals who did not understand the icy feel of the darkness on their backs or the soft whisper of timelessness across their ears as they used substances to make their minds foggy and closed to their tiny human reality and open to the strange and amazing bigger picture.
No, not tonight. Tonight, there were plans to be drawn, foundations to be laid and souls to be stirred. Tonight was a collection night and Tamesis would not leave until she had gathered what was hers.
Slipping through the shadows in her true form, the Darkness found its way quickly through the city towards the glow that the world's soul gave off. A church where flowers once had bloomed was standing peacefully. The water flowed and glimmered with the promise of healing and life. Stepping out over the water, the darkness materialized into the figure of a young woman all dressed in black with long raven hair and eerie lavender eyes. Looking down at her reflection in the water she called out.
"...It is time for you to repay your debt to me, daughter. Bring forth your river of souls so that I may collect what rightfully belongs to me. Your health has been restored as promised. Bring me the spirits I marked for my own. The time draws near that they will be useful..."
